Time To Get Strong!

A lot of people think that weights are no good and that cardio is enough to get a good workout. Any sort of excerise is great, but there are some AWESOME benefits to strength training. If you can get any sort of lifting in 2-3 times a week, you are doing good! Top reasons it is beneficial:

  1. Strength training protects bone health and muscle mass
  2. Strength training makes you stronger and fitter
  3. Strength training helps you develop better body mechanics
  4. Strength training plays a role in disease prevention
  5. Strength training boosts energy levels and improves your mood
  6. Strength training translates to more calories burned

It is easy to strength train.. Pushups, jump squats, lunges, and mountain climbing are all examples of exercises that provide strength training.. you don’t always need weights. But when you do want weights, you don’t always need to be at the gym! Try doing squats holding a detergent bottle, or lunging holding up water bottles… make it easy to do at home!

Good post. I’ve continually found that the squat to be the single best exercise for both muscle building and also fat loss. It really is the sole best compound movement that works all the main muscle groups.
